Power In Christ

Can’t even begin to put words around what Jesus is doing right now in our church.  We have seen more people place their faith in Christ in last two weeks than in the last two years combined!  Someone asked me on the street what we were doing.  I told them, praying and trying to stay out of God’s Way!!  Seriously though, I told him other than having incredible staff and people in our church, I can only think of one thing.  We have never left the vision God gave us.  In the times we felt like going with the flavor of the year or latest book, we chose to stay the course He gave us 10 years ago.  The only thing I can point to is our deciding to be bolder and completely surrendering ourselves to the fact that God wants us to build a church that cares ridiculously about students, children and their parents.

On a different note, yesterday Jesus revealed such empowering truth to us through His word.  We have been looking at the Power of the Christian life; how we have the power of God living in us through our faith in Him. But, the question that nags us and demands an answer is:

“If we have the power of God within us then why do so many Christians live powerless lives?”

If you want the entire answer, you can watch the message on our website.  But, in a nutshell, it boils down to our mind.  Romans 12:2 says “we can have this power transform our life only when we renew our mind.”  You see our mind works much like a transformer.  An electrical transformer takes the power from the generator and the power lines and transforms it into a usable form in our home.  The key is the transformer must be filled with the right kind of oil and coils for the power to flow into our home.

So is true with the power of God.  Our mind acts as the transformer of the Regenerated heart bringing its power to our daily life.  Therefore it must be filled/renewed with right thinking, the truth of God’s word to work properly.  In order to do so, we must do two things

1-     Renounce: put aside, reject evil thoughts and wrong or worldly thinking

2-     Replace: we must replace lies and the falsehoods we believe or others have spoken over us with the Truth of God’s word

I strongly encourage you to watch the service and learn how to live the empowered life God has for you.  You do not have to live in fear, doubt or discouragement.  You have “Christ in you, the hope of Glory!”
